Brad The Piper
Brad started learning bagpipes at the age of 8 in Bemidji, MN with a
member of the McAllister College Pipe Band out of Minneapolis,
learning the basic scale and gracenotes until instruction was not
available. At the age of 10, Brad resumed learning after his family
relocation to Orlando, FL with the Rosie O’Grady’s Highlanders and
with personal tuition by Jamie Holton (of Off Kilter fame).
Brad competed both in solo and band competitions and has won
“Champion Supreme” honors for each individual grade while rising in
the ranks to the “Professional” level.
Brad has played with the Rosie O’Grady’s Highlanders, Central Florida
Police, City of Sarasota, and City of Dunedin pipe bands throughout
his career. He was formally the Pipe Major of the Rosie O’Grady’s
Highlanders.
On top of traditional piping, Brad is the bagpiper of International
touring act Seven Nations, which has helped him develop his own (Rock
N’ Roll) style of playing. Pulling widely from the Cape Breton style
that is translated between bagpipe and fiddle.
Brad is also an instructor, open to beginning learners, and to helping those who are already
established to take their playing and music to the next level they
want to achieve. His style is developed from his many years of
experience on and beyond the competitive field.
